China - 100 Yuan 2005 Prefix C97

中华人民共和国
People's Republic of China

One Hundred Yuan
Dated 2005, P907
Reverse
In addition to the change in the prefix, the serial number has also reduced from 8 to 7 digits too. However one can also argued that the only alteration is the second letter prefix swap place with the first numeral digit, if you know what I mean.

China - New Prefix 1999 Serial Number Format A12B

New prefix with two digits between two letters.
One Yuan
Dated 1999
Reverse
Latest serial number format with two digits sandwiched between two alphabets and then followed by 6 digits. The total letters and numbers used is still 9. This is just a matter of shifting the second alphabets one pacing to the right to create a new format.

...China - New Prefix 1999 Serial Number Format A1B

One Yuan
Dated 1999, P895
Reverse

From A123456789 to AA12345678 to A1A2345678. This is the third format of serial numbers. With such a large population in China, would the authority just keep moving the alphabet to the right or add another digit to the serial number? In addition to the change in the prefix, the serial number has also reduced from 8 to 7 digits too. However one can also argue that the only alteration is the second letter prefix swap place with the first numeral digit, if you know what I mean.

This is China 1980 issues from 1 Jiao (ten cents) to 100 Yuan. This series is still quite affordable with the exception of the two higher denominations of 50 and 100 Yuan. The demand for these two notes are getting popular and as such so are the asking selling price too especially those in uncirculated condition. I am not sure if these are all the notes issued as I have also included reprint of notes with slight changed in the serial numbers format. Each serial number comes with two alphabets and then followed by 8 digits, for example AA12345678. As the numbers range ran out, the serial number then changed where the first digit swapped place with the second alphabet ie A1A2345678 and so on. As I do not have any confirmation regarding the serial numbers issued it would be great if these are all the notes issued. Life will still go on even if I don't have them all in my collection. You just can't have it all, right?
